Rushing Without Planning

Spend a few minutes planning your route between control points. Look for easy-to-follow features, such as trails or ridges, to guide you.

Underestimating the Terrain

Pay attention to contour lines on the map to gauge elevation changes. Choose routes that match your fitness level and experience.

Neglecting Hydration and Snacks

Carry a small bottle of water and some snacks like energy or cereal bars.

Overlooking Time Management

Set a realistic time limit for each section of the course and stick to it. Prioritize checkpoints if you’re short on time.
