Intra Games - First Kick-off Meeting

On Saturday February 27th, the Kick Off Meeting of the project "IN.TRA.GAMES" took place online. The 5 partner organizations got the chance to meet each other, even though behind a screen.

The project coordinator is 4C-Cooperate-Communicate-Create-Change, a non-profit and non-governmental organization founded in 2018 in Athens (Greece), which stands for intercultural dialogue, non-formal education, solidarity and inclusion. The partner organizations are L’Orma, based in Milan (Italy) and active since 2000 in delivering training experiences through non-formal education; Right2Score Foundation, established in 2017 in Gent (Belgium), where it provides sport opportunities for disadvantaged youth; Asociacion Xuvenil Arousa Moza, a youth association founded in 2017 in Galicia (Spain) to promote indigenous and new cultures; and Club for Youth Empowerment 018, a non-profit and non-governmental organization based in Nis (Serbia), where is active in organizing capacity building for youths and peer education programs since 2008.

"INCLUSIVE TRADITIONAL GAMES" is a small collaborative partnership in the field of sport within the Erasmus+ project that aims at creating a space for intercultural and intergenerational dialogue. The idea is to create local initiatives to promote the integration of ethnic minorities within the local communities they are part of through traditional games. Another interrelated objective of the "IN.TRA.GAMES" project is to provide opportunities to local communities to become more active and to make use of public spaces and facilities. More specifically, these general goals will be achieved through the creation of a manual of traditional games that trainers, sport coaches, youth workers and educators can use autonomously to implement initiatives at the local level. In such a way, the project will become sustainable over time and ready to be implemented in different countries all over the world.

In details, the implementation of the project entails a first exploratory step through a research: every partner country will collect information about the traditional games and sports of their home-country, as well as of ethnic minorities present in their area of intervention. The games selected in this first step will then be gathered into a comprehensive manual to be used to train youth workers, sport coaches, trainers, educators. Trainings represent a key component of the implementation process of the "IN.TRA.GAMES" project as they set the basis for the organization of local events, during which participants will learn about traditional games and sports, and will also try them out in practice. Specifically, two local events of such type will take place in each partner country, with the dual purpose of raising awareness regarding the importance of traditional games and sports in intergenerational and intercultural dialogue, as well as of promoting the project "IN.TRA.GAMES" itself and the work of each partner organization at local level. In this regard, the implementation of the project will end with a final international conference, taking place in Milan (Italy), which represents an amazing opportunity to attract local and international stakeholders and to promote the results and outcomes of the "IN.TRA.GAMES" project to an as-large-as-possible audience.
