Visit and presentation of the educational program GET UP at the Primary school of Exombourgos in Tinos.

At the end of May, specifically on the 26th of the month, 4C had the pleasure to visit the Primary school of Exombourgos in Tinos for the presentation of the interactive board game “GET UP” for children.

Specifically, Danae Papadaki and Eleni Kardamitsi, initially presented to the teachers of the school the European educational project GET UP, explaining that the project is in collaboration with French universities, the French National Museum of Sport and five other European organizations, co-funded by the European Union.

The project, as well as the board game, aims to promote gender equality in sport by combining cards with knowledge questions about female athletes and cards with motor challenges. The aim of the game is for children to become aware of the fact that, unfortunately, inequality in sport exists, to learn new names of female athletes, new records, sporting events, but also to develop team spirit and good physical fitness through a fun game.

On Tuesday, 27 May 2025, the students of classes B, C, D, E and F participated with enthusiasm in the 4C activity. We divided the children into 5 random groups in order to enhance cooperation. During the activity, the children seemed interested in learning new things, actively participating and working together in harmony. One of the most impressive moments was at the end of the game, where the children had to tell us which female athletes they learned through GET UP, which encouraged us to continue the visits to even more schools after the positive results.

In conclusion, the European GET UP project and the table game left a positive impression on the teachers and students of Tinos, providing food for thought for further engagement and awareness on the issue of gender equality in sport. Finally, the Primary school of Exombourgos in Tinos warmly mentioned that they will use the board game in their next pedagogical activities.
